“Sirotkin completes Fortec’s FR3.5 line-up”

Fortec Motorsport have announced that Sergey Sirotkin will partner Oliver Rowland for his second Formula Renault 3.5 Series season.

Sirotkin, a reserve with the Sauber Formula One team, joins the British squad following an occasionally tricky season with ISR, in which he scored points on five occasions, twice of which were visits to podiums.

While the young Russian showed pace last season, his campaign was peppered with errors and mishaps that dropped him to 9th in the standings, a long way off champion Kevin Magnussen.

Sirotkin won the European leg of the Formula Abarth Series in 2011, before finishing 3rd in the Auto GP World Series the following season; however a stab at the Formula Renault 3.5 Series would be his first title charge of note.
Yet with a stable squad in Fortec and teammate of reasonable talent, Sirotkin believes this is entirely possible. “During the test run together in Spain, I had an immediate great feeling with all the people there,” said the 18-year-old.
He added: “It was a difficult December, with many important decision for my career; now that the full program have been finalised, I am finally free to dedicate all my energies to the coming season.” The Russian racer became the sixth driver to sign up for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
